Very little is known about Mobulids Rays, even though we’ve all seen them in pictures and documentaries and, a lucky few of us, have seen them in their natural environment. If you’re diving in the Azores, you might be one of these lucky few.
You can also help these animals by collaborating with a long-term photo ID catalogue to study their biology and life-cycle. The ventral pattern in these animals remain throughout their life and allow the identification of specific individuals.
So, if you have underside photos of Mantas or other Mobulid, please send them, along with date and location, to [email protected] or learn more about this project.
We all can help further knowledge and improve protection of the marine biodiversity.
